Can I tell you why I chose the title Birth Story Brave? It wasn’t meant to describe how we feel going into birth, or in the middle of it, or even after. Many of us feel the opposite of brave! I remember that when I was in transition during my daughter’s birth, I decided that I just wasn’t going to have a baby after all.
Nope, no thanks. I think I’m good. I’ll just be done with this, please.
This makes me smile every time I think back on it, but in the moment there was a good portion of me that believed that was actually an option!
The brave part of Birth Story Brave comes from using the space to look back at your birth stories and reflect. Gathering the strength and courage to dig deep while recounting an experience that changed you forever. An experience that comes along with all sorts of complicated feelings, highs and lows. While I feel that many, if not all women, are ultimately brave during birth, whether they feel that way or not, I can’t decide that for anyone. It’s not my story to tell. I can, however, hold space on paper for you so you can find out how you did feel.
I invite you to take this step with me in the coming year. Be brave in 2018! Looking back at your birth story isn’t you getting caught up in the past, it’s releasing the past so you can be in the present. If you’re ready to start your journey, click here.
With gratitude always, and wishes for a brave 2018,
